BELLERUCHE- TURNTABLE SOUL PARTY (Late License)

“ The turntable is perhaps best described as a time machine….”
Dr Withnail Duke, Paris, 1899.

A summer party in the city, curated by Belleruche, at the Vibe Bar, Brick Lane, East London, because of the magic of recorded music. It’s 111 years since the British Gramophone company was founded, and the people of London could start buying records for the first time. This event is a celebration of that recorded music. All of it. Dj’s will be playing sets ranging from 1930’s talking blues via 50’s jazz and 60s southern soul, through to the most recently recorded bed- room dubstep and electronic hip-hop producers.

Featuring LIVE – Belleruche, Natural Self, The Correspondents, The Shadow Orchestra + a ton of DJ’s!

What’s going on?

A summer party in the city, curated by Belleruche, at the Vibe Bar, Brick Lane, East London, because of the magic of recorded music. It’s 111 years since the British Gramophone company was founded, and the people of London could start buying records for the first time. This event is a celebration of that recorded music. All of it. Dj’s will be playing sets ranging from 1930’s talking blues via 50’s jazz and 60s southern soul, through to the most recently recorded bed- room dubstep and electronic hip-hop producers.

Live bands:

Belleruche - London’s turntable soul trio, described as sounding like Sarah Vaughan, Charlie Christian & Cut Chemist jamming over a bottle of rum in a secondhand record store basement.

Natural Self (DJ, MC & Percussion set) - One of Tru-thoughts finest producers brings his heavy heavy funk meets twisted hip hop selections up to the capital, joined by Dylan Sage and Will Fry.

The Correspondents - MC Mr Bruce and DJ/Producer Mr Chuckles collaborate to make Hip Hop for the 1930s and Big Band music for the 00s. (myspace.com/thecorrespondentsmusic)

The Shadow Orchestra - A band with affinity for lush melodic hooks coupled with an appetite for skittering rhythms and wild digital signal processing. (shadoworchestra.com)
