EMELI SANDE

Twenty-something songstress Emeli Sande hails from North of the Border, but her sound is a truly outernational mix of alternative electroacoustic soul music that’ll dazzle the listener from the first drop. Currently inking a deal with a certain major label, following her vocal featuring on Chipmunk’s Top Ten hit “Diamond Rings”, Emeli is on the verge of hitting the big time. Catch her for free while you can!!!!

THE FAMOUS GOLDFINGER BROTHERS

We’ve been running into this Basel-based fraternal duo, DJ La Febbre and DJ Montes, for a good ten years now, at home and abroad, at DJ battles, club nights, open-airs and parades, as well as catching them over the airwaves. Their musical range runs from hip hop through electro-disco-boogie to funk and reggae. In more recent times they’ve also made a name for themselves in pop under their Boogie Pilots alias, whose pièce de résistance are so-called mash-ups, homemade collages of found sounds gleaned from other recording artists. Indefatigably, they hunt down the latest new releases and plummet the depths of dusty record stores for black gold long believed lost.

As well as all this, the duo from Basel, Switzerland have found themselves supporting, amongst others, The Black Eyed Peas, Common, Sugar Hill Gang, Pharcyde, LL Cool J, Gang Starr, Questlove, DJ Vadim and The Scratch Perverts, to name but a few. Their turntable trickery and showmanship has to be seen to be believed!!

PART-TIME HEROES

The Part-Time Heroes’ sound has often been compared to scene defining stalwarts like Koop, Zero 7 and Portishead, with a uniquely refreshingly, wholesome and honest style, complete with live instrumentation, deep jazz roots, folky flourishes and organic, soul nourishing goodness.

Following on from their critically acclaimed debut on Wah Wah 45s, ‘Meanwhile’, the duo unleashed their ‘Remixes’ album project in May, featuring re-works from Landslide, The Nextmen, Unforscene and the boy themselves!!

The Heroes return to The Vibe Bar having rocked the dance at our Bank Holiday Session last year with their full Soundsystem, and mashed up our Easter jam earlier in 2009. Expect a firing mix of hip hop, dubstep, soul, reggae & jungle!!

SCRIMSHIRE

Rugby born Adam Scrimshire unveiled his debut album on Wah Wah 45s earlier this year to a raptuous response.

Scrimshire’s sound is steeped in jazz, soul, funk and a little folk, but with a nod to contemporary sounds, and a strong crossover ‘pop’ edge. Be in no doubt – this boy knows how to write a tune.

His DJ sets are nothing less than party rockin! From disco to afro, Scrimshire will supply the fire!!
