SUNDAY SOUL SESSIONS with Nathan Haines, Vanessa Freeman and 8-piece band
Saxophonist Nathan Haines and Vanessa Freeman team up for a special free one off performance with a cracking live eight-piece band.
After two classic albums produced by Phil Asher for label Chillifunk earlier in the decade - Sound Travels and Squire for Hire - Haines and vocalist Freeman will be re-uniting many of the key players for this gig including keyboardist/producer Mike Patto and drummer Daniel Crosby.
Vanessa has become one of the UK’s most in demand international collaborators with recent guest spots with Reel People, Kyoto Jazz Massive and Baker Brothers, plus live gigs with Bugz in the Attic, Roy Ayers, Azimuth and Mark de Clive-Lowe.
Nathan has been involved in some the UK’s most seminal soul releases, and this year saw the release of Right Now on Freestyle records with guests Marlena Shaw, Ty and Mike Patto on production duties.Vanessa was the star of first single “Tell Me” with remixes by Domu, and a fab music clip featuring dancing robots.
Nathan Haines is one of New Zealand’s most well known jazz musicians with 2 gold albums and has lived and worked in the UK for for a decade and a half and has recorded with Reel People, Jamiroquai, Masters at Work and Louie Vega, and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra.
