First Word are back with the second of their live events at Vibe Bar. After 6ix Toys & Homecut rocked it back in November, FW are back with two new signings.

First up are afrobeat warriors Ariya Astrobeat Arkestra, ahead of the release of their debut single, a cover of Jimi Hendrix classic Crosstown Traffic. Made up of members of the kidkanevil live show & Homecut, the band combine their love of afrobeat with their appreciation of the space jazz pioneers of the 70’s and the free jazz trailblazers of the 60’s, coupled with a hefty nod towards James Brown. Dope!
The Simonsound is a sonic partnership consisting of Simon James and Matt Ford. Simon and Matt have been working together on various projects over the years. You may have heard their work together before on Matt’s albums under his guise as DJ Format, on which Simon assisted with production and mixed all vocals. The Simonsound is far from another DJ Format project. With broader musical tastes than just hip hop and funk, Simon and Matt started working on The Simonsound as an outlet for their more experimental offerings inspired by 60’s psych, pioneering electronics and music for TV and film.
After two much sought after 7″ singles - covers of classics ‘It’s Just Begun’ and ‘Tour De France’ their debut album ‘Reversed Engineered’ will be out this spring.
